Make a Difference — Volunteer at Second Baptist Church

At Second Baptist Church, volunteering isn’t just about filling a role — it’s about answering a call. Whether you’re welcoming guests, mentoring youth, preparing meals, singing in the choir, or supporting behind the scenes, your gifts make ministry possible.

When you serve, you join a vibrant community committed to love in action. Volunteering is a powerful way to grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and be part of the Spirit’s work in Evanston and beyond.
There’s a place for every gift — and there’s a place for you. Step into purpose. Be the church. Volunteer today.

Volunteer FAQ

How do I volunteer?

We’re so grateful you’ve reached out — your willingness to serve means so much. At Second Baptist Church, volunteers are the heart of our ministry, and we’re excited to help you find the right place to share your gifts.

To get started, please complete our Volunteer Interest Form. It’s the next step toward discovering how you can make a meaningful impact in our church and community. We can’t wait to serve alongside you!

How do I volunteer with youth?

Volunteering with youth at Second Baptist Church is a meaningful way to inspire, guide, and support our young people as they grow in faith and character. To ensure a safe and nurturing environment, all youth volunteers must complete a background screening and safety training before serving. Your presence can make a lasting difference — and it all starts with saying yes.

How do I volunteer with music?

Contact our Minister of Music, Rev. Vernon Clark, in person or via email using the Volunteer Interest Form above.

How do I volunteer with the Tuesday Soup Kitchen?

Join us each Tuesday as we offer warm meals and a welcoming spirit to our neighbors in need. Volunteering with the Soup Kitchen is a hands-on way to live out our call to love and serve, offering dignity, nourishment, and community to all who walk through our doors. Whether you help prepare food, serve guests, or clean up, your presence matters. Together, we extend grace — one meal at a time.
